I am hearing you on this. In 2001 I was drawn to the alter and repeated the sinners prayer. After service I was told, "Now read your bible and we'll see you next Sunday." Of course this is great advice but I needed more. No one told me that now I was going to tested by the devil. No one told me about the weapons I now had in my possession to fight him. No one told me how to walk out my new life.

That ended up being a very serious matter. Satan came after me like a madman and I was not in knowledge of him and that he was going to come steal, kill and destroy.

My life fell completely apart for the next several years. Of course that was not God's fault. It was a lack of proper teaching and it was a lack of solid fellowship. Now in 2004, after being led through the wilderness I had a true heart conviction and it was at this point when I truly gave my life to the Lord. He will complete the work he begins. Praise God!

In connection with your post, we need to nurture our new converts. We need to love them intently and teach them the authority they have now recieved.

We are told to go into the nations and make DISCIPLES, not just believers.

Great topic here. I am glad I stumbled across your page. May your roots grow down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love! (Eph 3:16)

What a helpful reminder this is for us. LIFE TOGETHER is one of my favorite books as well. Each time I've read it, I've been encouraged--not so much at how well I have done, but encouraged forward toward a deeper experience of Christ present in his church-community.

It's a challenge to die to our fleshly worldview that categorizes one another by any number of human criteria rather than regarding one another, according to Christ. I am grateful for a reminder to view everyone according to their relationship to Jesus, and to define our relationship accordingly.
